Music Video
A) Logging Rushes
B) Reviewing the video
Review of Footage - I was most pleased with our larger take shots, ones that would go on for about 9 seconds or more, the performance from the actors and direction of how to shots worked turned out really well at times and worked as a great confidence boost between everyone in the crew. I think what went well in the filming of the shoot was having this chemistry between each member of the crew which was light hearted and also serious at the same time, we all had the desire of creating a great music video but while also having fun alongside. There are defiantly some shots that could of been reshot as well as some extra shots that could've been created too, if any shot of most importance was to be reshot it would be the longest take shot presented at the end; we had a few issues with timing as well as poor lighting and issues with the backplate. Although that shot became the hardest to pull off for its length and once we were happy with just being able to finish the shot for once we only decided to stay with that one since we thought it would be too difficult to reshoot.
Initial Edit Structure - The structure of the video is all planned throughout the filming of the video, not one shot could really be used in different moments of the video for mixing in with the song and its beat. Each performance is made to mix with our narrative of the video, we plan on making colour correction changes to fit with the mood changes of our characters in the video, as well as some high intensity edits when reaching the songs climax to fit with both the performance, narrative and beats of the song.
Paper Edit
C) Applying Effects
D) Linking audio to visuals
Example of linking audio to visual:
For when filming this shot we wanted the dancing of our actor to match the beat of the song while the actor is also lip syncing the part of the song.
For achieving this we had the part of the song playing while recording the scene to allow the actor to lip sync to the song better with proper timing of the song. As well as doing some choreography before hand with the actor listening to the song and preparing his dance beforehand.
Afterwards when it came down to editing the shot we placed the music over the footage and made tweaks if necessary to better match the beat of the song or to better lync up the music with the actors performance.
